My First Week....
So I'm finally here in Singapore, it's still hard to believe that I'm actually here and will be here for the next 4 months. The first night I was here, I stayed in a hotel because I wasn't sure if I could check into residence after hours. The girl who picked me up from the airport was really nice though and helped me in getting my things to my room. The next morning, I left for school and the first person I met was a girl from California named Diana (who reminds me SO much of Katherine, lol). That whole day was spent sorting school/room stuff out, buying stuff for my room, and meeting new people, most of whom were from the States or Canada. The next day we had international orientation, after which me and one of the girls from Canada, Gwen, went to Chinatown. Friday was spent mostly in registration, grocery shopping, and more orientation, as well as an intro to Singaporean culture and language (Singlish). That night, I ended up hanging out with some UC (Uni of California) kids at res. Saturday was more admin stuff, like getting my bank card and all, and then in the evening, a few of us went to Marina Bay to watch the fireworks in honour of Singapore's National Day on August 9th. Today, Sunday, I slept in and then went to Sentosa Island. Tomorrow, hopefully I can unpack properly, seeing as my suitcases are still sitting on the floor.
